Foundations Accounting and Investments (FAI) calculates next year’s spending budgets for endowments held by the foundations and the University Endowment Fund annually and communicates those budgets to the benefiting colleges and units as appropriate. FAI is currently calculating endowment spending budgets for Fiscal Year 2027. 

Budgets will be communicated to the appropriate colleges and units in December, prior to the winter break. This early communication is designed to assist with budgeting activities and scholarship commitments for the next fiscal year. Endowment spending budgets for Fiscal Year 2027 will become available for expenditure on July 1, 2026.

Communication Plan

The spending budget communication will be sent via email from Chris Lemons to the appropriate individuals in each college or unit, as applicable. A contact list has been shared with colleges and units to update for FY27 spending communication. Please make sure your teams have updated this accordingly.

Colleges and units will be asked to give special consideration whether to spend into corpus to fund budgets for FY27. FAI strongly discourages spending into corpus unless there is a valid and necessary business reason to do so. 

Colleges and units will be asked to make these considerations on their respective Google Sheets by the deadline provided in Chris’s email. 

FAI will review and confirm all FY27 spending decisions from the colleges and units, and FAI will provide a second communication with finalized FY27 spending amounts to aid in budget preparation for the coming year.
