September 2026 Business Connections Meeting Recap
University Human Resources (UHR)
NC State is reducing its employee deprovisioning timeline from 21 days down to one day after separation, a cybersecurity move announced by UHR. Because system access will end within 24 hours of an employee’s last day, offboarding tasks, such as email handoffs and file transfers, must happen before the employee leaves. Managers need to start separation paperwork as soon as a departure is known.

University Payroll
University Payroll in the University Controller’s Office has enhanced controls for deadlines related to direct deposit and bank account updates. The existing cutoff periods are now automated to ensure operational compliance, payroll integrity and enhanced security for all university personnel. Payroll support also moved into the HRNow Service Center on August 19, giving staff a self-service knowledge base in addition to the Payroll General Account inbox.
