This past month, the director of the University Cashier’s Office, Maria Brown, presented at a conference in Long Beach, California to discuss the idea of a cashless campus and whether this would be desirable or achievable.
Universities and colleges have looked closely at the possibility of creating a cashless environment and how this could affect all areas of a campus. The conference found the idea of a cashless campus as a way of incorporating the emergence of digital technology that would offer security and convenience for both business and personal transactions. Becoming a cashless campus could increase the overall productivity of many divisions on campus, especially the Cashier’s Office. With the world becoming a more digitally connected space, transactions, transfers and processing systems of all kinds have the potential to speed up all necessary business ventures over time.
