As the Spring semester approaches, the University Cashier’s Office is gearing up for another busy billing cycle!
Spring bills were posted to student accounts on November 9 and 15, with a due date of December 5, 2023. While many students will have already paid their bill or enrolled in a monthly payment plan, we will be receiving many calls and emails from students who need assistance understanding their charges, their payment options and opportunities for due date extensions – granted on a case-by-case basis.
Extensions can grant a student with an extreme extenuating circumstance, additional time to arrange payment and avoid schedule cancellation. We grant extensions for students who have experienced an accident, injury or death of a family member, etc.
For students whose account balances are not paid on time, schedules are canceled for non-payment to allow waitlisted students, who have paid for courses in advance, to move into those open seats. Once schedules are canceled and the late registration period begins, students are required to prepay for their tuition and fees for the semester before they are eligible to re-enroll.
During the registration, billing and cancellation period, our office can receive as many as 28,000 calls and 5,000 emails from students and parents hoping to receive assistance with their accounts. While we hope to assist all of our students and arrange payment for all of their accounts, some students are unfortunately unable to pay and therefore unable to attend for the semester. We billed a total of 36,106 students in the Fall semester, and a total of 589 schedules were canceled for nonpayment.
Our representatives are always ready and available to assist students with their student accounts, and we work to encourage students to feel confident in their understanding of their financial responsibility and the resources available to them. We look forward to the coming semester here in the University Cashier’s Office and assisting our students through another billing cycle!
