As we head into the holidays and winter break, you might be considering taking some time off. We recommend you check your leave balances — early next year, you will be asked to certify your annual and sick leave balances as of December 31, 2024.
Employees may carry 240 hours of annual leave over to the next calendar year. Anything over 240 will convert to sick time. Employees with negative balances in either annual or sick leave will have their paycheck charged to make up the difference. More details on leave balances can be found on the HR Benefits page.
Upcoming university holidays and closing dates:
- Winter Break: 12/24-12/31
- New Year’s Holiday: 1/1/25
**Employees must use personal leave for Monday, December 30**
You may use annual leave, personal leave (personal observance day), bonus leave, special bonus leave or comp time.
Please remember the personal observance day expires at the end of the calendar year. It is a “use it or lose it” day, so if you have not used it yet, you may consider using it for December 30.
Please refer to the University Official Holidays and Closings for full details.
