Every summer, the University Cashier’s Office (UCO) plays an active role in welcoming incoming students and their families through NC State’s Orientation program. As we gear up to welcoming the newest members of the Wolfpack, it’s a great opportunity to highlight how we support financial preparedness for the fall semester.

Money Matters

With the Fall 2025 tuition deadline approaching, our role in orientation helps ensure students and families are aware of what to expect when managing their student accounts. In collaboration with the Student Services Center, the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid and our Student Accounts team, we deliver the “Money Matters” presentation as part of the financial segment of orientation.

Student Service Center's Money Matters: Understanding College Costs at NC State presentation title page.

Offered a few times each week throughout June and July, the presentation walks attendees through the essentials of managing their student account. We cover everything from billing and payment options to requesting refunds, understanding financial aid and using Veteran Affairs education benefits. We also guide families through practical steps like setting up parent/guardian access and enrolling in direct deposit. Following each session, members of our team are available to speak with students and families directly, to address general questions or to offer assistance with more specific concerns.

Our goal is to ensure every new student and their support system feels welcomed, informed and ready to start a new semester with confidence. It’s one of the many ways we work to empower financial success for our Wolfpack throughout their journey at NC State.
