Contracts and Grants: Changing for the Future

Written by Justo Torres, Director, Contracts and Grants.

The only constant is change. With change as a guiding principle, the leadership of the Office of Contracts and Grants (director, associate director and senior fiscal managers) held several planning sessions to evaluate our current structure and to align our future structure to campus’ future needs.

While more sessions within Contract and Grants are planned and more details will come out in the near future, I want to give readers a preview of what they can expect from coming changes within C&G.

  • C&G plans to expand its compliance team and its compliance services.
  • C&G plans to expand its system team and its system services.
  • Fiscal managers will be organized into fewer but larger teams. Workloads will be established at the team level, rather than the fiscal manager level, to allow for greater cross training and coverage during busier periods.

Our ultimate goal is to provide services that are proactive and responsive to the needs of the research community. We want to work with our partners to be as effective and efficient as possible.
