Smartsheet is a platform for dynamic work that allows teams and organizations to create workflows and solutions to manage their projects more efficiently. Smartsheet is designed to capture data in a single location and present it in different ways such as dashboards, graphics and spreadsheets.
The work begins in a sheet, a flexible data capture and management location that fosters real-time collaboration through a cloud-based experience. From small projects to multi-faceted company-wide initiatives, Smartsheet enables teams to complete projects in a single environment.
According to data collected by MPA Vice Provost of Business Operations & Strategic Resource Management, Adrian Day, the use of Smartsheet is quickly gaining popularity at NC State. For example, the College of Education uses Smartsheet dashboards to simplify and present data to their individual and leadership teams in a clean way. The Office of Faculty Excellence utilizes the “DynamicViews” for Faculty Credentialing and cataloging in order to collect faculty credential information quickly and accurately for over 1,700 entries. The ORI (Proposal Development Unit) and Office of University Interdisciplinary Programs have jointly created a form whereby they can alert each other of current or potential interdisciplinary programs that may need funding or resourcing. This is just a snapshot of how Smartsheet is being used campus wide.
On March 1, 2023, the Office of Contracts and Grants’ Systems and Compliance team will be launching E-RAF (Electronic Redistribution Adjustment Form). By using the Smartsheet form feature, they will be able to capture data during the 90-day redistribution term, streamline the workflow, provide transparency and communicate requests that affect a sponsored research project.
