Meet the Cashier’s Team

Written by Mia Pollard.

While our office and campus continue to work toward being fully cashless, our cashiers process all department accounts receivable deposits for campus, along with incoming checks to pay student accounts.

Our team of cashiers consists of three full-time employees who remain ready to assist students and staff in our office. Marybeth, Michele and Addisu are essential to the daily operations of the Cashier’s Office – please take a moment to get to know them!

Meet Marybeth Wingerson

Marybeth has been in the Cashier’s Office since October 2019 and was promoted to Lead Cashier in December 2022. Though not a graduate of NC State, she has been a Wolfpack fan for all of her adult life. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, Marybeth is a huge fan of all Pittsburgh sports, especially the Steelers. Prior to coming to NC State, Marybeth had a lengthy career in retail management. Upon retirement, and to continue her journey as a life-long learner, she found her niche here at NC State and enjoys the daily opportunities to learn and grow in this environment. In addition to her cashier duties, Marybeth serves as our in-office Notary Public!

Meet Michele Geslain

Michele Geslain has been in the Cashier’s Office since January 2020. Prior to NC State, Michele  worked for 25 years as a restaurant manager and says changing careers was one of the best decisions she has ever made. Michele is originally from New York but has loved living in North Carolina for the last nine years. She loves spending time with family, friends and her two tiny dogs. In her spare time, Michele enjoys putting together jigsaw puzzles.

Meet Addisu Serba

Addisu began working at NC State in June of 2013 as a temporary employee, becoming a permanent employee about six months later. Addisu’s first job on campus was in the Facilities Division, and he says it was not a fancy job, but it helped him get to where he is now.  While working for Facilities, Addisu completed his degree in Business Administration at Wake Technical Community College (Wake Tech) and graduated in May of 2020. Following his graduation from Wake Tech, Addisu applied to the Student Services Center but was not selected. Determined to continue his career here at NC State, Addisu applied for the Cashier’s Office and was hired in May 2021. In addition to working at NC State, Addisu is currently an undergraduate student here and is expecting to graduate in December 2024 with a Bachelor of Science.

Our office could not function without our amazing team of cashiers. We thank them for their hard work and dedication to serving every individual that enters our doors.

Student Accounts Team Update

We also wanted to provide an update from last October’s Student Accounts Team article.

Chase Jernigan has joined the Student Services Center team, and Zeryn Macklin has joined us as our new full-time Student Financial Services Representative.

Zeryn graduated from NC State in 2023 and has been eager to get back into the community, this time as a staff member instead of a student. Zeryn says being part of the finance division has been a new and fun experience, and she learns something new everyday. As a former NC State student, she can easily relate to or put herself in the shoes of all the students she interacts with in regards to their student financial needs.

In her spare time she enjoys traveling with her partner, spending time with her dog Kirby, playing video games and discovering new music. Zeryn’s goal for this year is to expand her vinyl record collection!
