The NC General Statutes require an annual audit of NC State University by the North Carolina Office of State Auditor. A financial statement audit provides an independent, objective assessment of a university’s financial statements. It ensures that the financial statements are accurate, reliable and in compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations to increase the confidence of investors, creditors and other stakeholders. Financial statement audits add a layer of trust and transparency.
The NC State financial statement audit evaluates the university’s annual financial activities and is presented to the Board of Trustees during the November meeting. Conducted over several months, the audit concluded with an unqualified opinion, meaning the auditors found the financial statements to be accurate and in compliance with accounting standards. The 2024 North Carolina State University Financial Statement Audit Report was issued on November 18.
The university’s financial statements are located on the North Carolina Office of State Auditor’s website as well as the University Controller’s Office website. We have begun preparing the 2024 North Carolina State University Financial Statement, which will be posted on our website in early 2025.
