Earlier this year, we shared the exciting news that Bill Carson, Assistant Director for Materials Support, had been nominated and then selected to receive the NC State University Awards for Excellence in the Public Service category. This recognition was for his work with Support U.S. Armed Forces (SUSAF), a non-profit organization he founded. The NC State Awards for Excellence is the most prestigious honor bestowed upon non-faculty employees. This award recognizes the outstanding accomplishments and contributions of individual employees, above and beyond an employee’s normal job responsibilities.
Later on, Bill was selected from a pool of 54 NC State Awards for Excellence honorees to represent the university at the Governor’s Awards for Excellence. This award is the highest honor a state employee may receive for dedicated service to the State of North Carolina and its residents.
Just a few weeks ago, we learned that Bill received the 2023 Governor’s Award for Excellence for his selfless and inspiring work with our military service members and their families. He was one out of 42 recipients of this prestigious award.
