The holiday season is rapidly approaching. Here are essential tips and deadlines to ensure you are prepared, especially if you plan to take additional time off during the winter break.
Action Required: Review Leave Balances
If you are planning to take additional vacation time, please take a moment to review your leave balances. In January, you will be required to certify your annual and sick leave balances as of December 31, 2025.
We recommend reviewing your leave, but waiting to certify it until your college/division HR Lead notifies you.
Leave Carryover Limit
- Please review the Leave Accrual Rules to determine carryover limits for the Annual Leave Program or the Personal Leave Program.
- Important: Ending the calendar year with a negative annual or sick leave balance will result in a reduction in pay.
Upcoming Holidays and Office Closing Days
- Winter Break ((includes recognized holidays): 12/24 – 12/31
- New Year’s Holiday: 01/01/26
Leave Required for 12/30
Employees are required to use annual, bonus, special bonus leave or compensatory time (comp time) for Tuesday, December 30, 2025. The Personal Observance Day expires at the end of the calendar year. If you have not used yours, December 30 is an excellent opportunity to utilize it before it is lost.
